six months

streuth!  it's already feb and i've been living in australia for about 6 months.  crazy.

here are my recent happenings: big day out, australia day, beach beach beach, katoomba.

big day out was this huge music festival.  there were at least 40,000 people there.  it was an all day affair.  perfect weather, tons of good bands, heaps of fun.  we saw sneaky sound system, the ting tings, arctic monkeys, youthgroup, and others.  all these bands are pretty popular over here, but i'm not sure they are on the radio / popular back in the states...  great day, and nice to take off work on a friday for some festival fun!

australia day was insanity!!  especially because we live in the city basically.  tons of people went to hyde park for some festivities.  we went to the rocks all day with some of our aussie friends - music, food, drinks, patriotism!  everyone gets dressed up to the nines in their australia gear - wearing flags as dresses, wearing anything aussie, just rocking it out.  there were supposed to be fireworks, but they were cancelled because of the rain.  boo.  overall, a cracker of a day.

it's definitely high summer here, so the beach is an absolute must over the weekends.  and i'd love to just call out of work during the week to play hooky and make my way to the beach as well, but i don't do that... i'm too responsible??  i've been walking recently from the cross to bondi beach, hopping in the water to cool off, and just enjoying the sun, sand & surf.  love it.

just this past weekend, i went to katoomba (in the blue mountains - 2.5 hrs by train from sydney) to visit my kiwi friend who recently moved out there.  we did a bushwalk through katoomba falls, the three sisters, and the giant steps.  the blue mountains are so beautiful!  it was nature at its best and most peaceful.  i did not want to leave!  it was such a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the city scene.  and absolutely gorgeous.  i'll be going back to visit her sometime soon!

took a long lunch on monday to watch the superbowl.  that 4th qtr was intense...  and just working the rest of this week and a couple days next week.  two birthdays to celebrate this week on thurs & friday (should be fun)  and then NEW ZEALAND next wednesday!!!!  one week from today!!!  can't wait!
